An Effective Management System

may 26, 2015

Some may ask why is it best to structure your management system according to your business processes or activities?
The answer is simple: A management system structured around elements of a standard is hard to understand and doesn’t mean a whole lot to most people. However, when a management system is structured based on the actual activities of a company, the system suddenly becomes easier to understand because it reflects a company’s everyday activities.

Here is an example: a company that manufactures precision products that also offers new product design can structure their management system according to the following activities: 1) Management, 2) Continuous Improvement, 3) Sales, 4) Product Design, 5) Purchasing, 6) Production, 7) Quality Control and 8) Reception and Shipping.

Then it becomes a question of determining the processes that are required for each activity and everything becomes easy to understand for management and employees alike. These processes are also easy to manage and to modify if need be.
